What Are The Best Exercises To Lose Belly Fat?

There seems to be a huge debate within the weight loss industry about what the best exercise is to lose belly fat fast. This debate has caused a great deal of confusion for women and men that are desperate to lose weight. The fact of the matter is that any kind of activity that you participate in whether its organized sports or walking around your neighborhood is going to help much more than if you sit around sitting chips while watching TV. In order to find the best exercise to lose belly fat you have to find some kind of activity that you actually enjoy doing. If you don't enjoy the activity, you won't stick with it long enough to lose belly fat.

First Stage - Best Exercise to Lose Belly Fat:

Now that I've gotten the obligatory advice to "move more" out of the way, we'll talk about the next level, perhaps the best exercise to lose belly fat. If you really want to lose that belly fat quickly, combine low intensity cardio with resistance based training.

Resistance training or weight training doesn't necessarily require that you bench press 300 pounds. Any kind of exercise that you take part in that works your muscles at a high intensity, whether it's push-ups or bench presses, it's considered resistance training.

What makes resistance training the best exercise to lose belly fat? It really comes down to fuel or energy. Body fat really isn't a good source of fuel for your resistance training workouts because it takes some time for fat to break down and start working as fuel. However, you body isn't sure of how long you're going to train so the resistance workout starts the process of breaking down the body fat to be later used as fuel.

Second Stage - Best Exercise to Lose Belly Fat

This is where things start to get pretty powerful when working on getting rid of excess belly fat. We already know that resistance training doesn't directly burn body fat for fuel, but cardio exercise done at a low level of intensity does. It's unfortunate, but low intensity cardio workouts have been deemed as an ineffective exercise to get rid of belly fat. Well, for some that may be true, but my clients that do it the way I've shown them think it's the best exercise to get rid of belly fat.

Let me explain. Low intensity cardio exercise is an activity that directly burns fat, meaning that fat is the primary source of fuel during a workout. When you do your cardio workout immediately after your resistance training, you've got the perfect belly fat burning combo. Remember, resistance training breaks down and mobilizes the fat and the low intensity cardio comes right in to burn that mobilized fat.

To Lose Belly Fat Fast - Do This:

My recommendation to lose belly fat is to make a commitment to yourself to work out at home or at the gym a minimum of three times each week. Recent studies have shown that the majority of people are able to find this much time in their schedule for a dedicated exercise program.

When training, I recommend splitting up your targeted muscle groups over the three days you'll be exercising. On day one of your belly fat fighting program, focus entirely on doing upper body resistance training. You'll only need to do resistance training for 20-30 minutes. That should be enough to get that fat mobilized for the next phase. Immediately after your resistance training start doing some kind of low intensity cardio activity like the rowing machine, bicycle, jumping rope, or jogging for about 20 minutes or so. This will start burning up the recently mobilized fat and get rid of that belly fat once and for all.
